Driscoll Health System, located in Corpus Christi, Texas, seeks a collaborative, innovative leader and a spokesperson as the next vice president of development (VP). This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced fundraising professional to set and execute the vision of the development and donor functions at a thriving children's health system on a trajectory of significant growth. Reporting to, and partnering closely with President and CEO, Eric Hamon, the VP will lead all philanthropy and marketing efforts for a world-class health system and serve as the executive director for The Driscoll Children's Hospital Development Foundation. The successful candidate will be a strategic resource to the board and senior leadership as Driscoll fulfills its organizational mission. As fundraising grows, there must also be coordinated and tactful promotion of the compassion and advanced medical treatment and technologies of the Driscoll Health System.
Driscoll has been a leader in pediatric care since its inception in 1953. Anchored by the only freestanding children's hospital in South Texas, Driscoll also includes a multi-specialty medical group, urgent care centers, after-hours facility, a health plan as well as numerous collaborative relationships with other regional providers. The health system serves a 31 county area with plans of growth, outlined in its strategic plan approved by the board of directors. On a daily basis, physicians and patients are transported to Driscoll by ground and air to ensure the children of South Texas receive the best treatment possible. Guided by the strategic principle of “more care for more kids,” Driscoll is focused on increasing service offerings and access to high quality, coordinated care.
Recent achievements include: the 2019 Guardian of Excellence Award® by Press Ganey, accreditation for the Driscoll Children’s Hospital’s Transition to Professional Nurse Program and the Silver Beacon Award for Excellence from the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses. Driscoll is one of the most financially successful children’s systems in the country with a $600 million dollar endowment, and its growing health plan provides benefits for more than 190,000 members. These are appealing characteristics for donors looking for a secure and meaningful investment for children.
The vice president of development will possess the managerial acumen necessary to galvanize support for a complex health system that has great strength in its physicians and staff. Oversight of fundraising efforts include major gifts, online giving, corporate partnerships, planned giving, events, volunteer management, messaging and branding system wide. To ensure sustainable growth, the VP will implement best practice fundraising systems and processes that improve operation mechanics and maximize use of the donor database. Expanding partnerships throughout the South Texas region will be a top priority and the vice president of development will be an advocate for Driscoll at a national level, raising awareness of development initiatives. A recently completed successful fundraising campaign, The Future's Bright, provides opportunity for continued momentum, growth and donor cultivation. The successful candidate will identify new affiliations for Driscoll sensitively in a nation uncertain about the future of COVID-19 and for an organization that has been a leader in ensuring quality care during the pandemic and carries a record of advanced readiness for any emergency. The VP will position the organization to continue to “tell its story” and ensure the further success of development initiatives.
