Roper St. Francis Healthcare (RSFH) seeks a charismatic, energetic, innovative senior IT executive to serve as its next Vice President, Chief Information Officer (VP/CIO). As Charleston's only private, non-for-profit health system, RSFH is a trusted name with a 160-year history of being a leader in providing innovative and quality healthcare since its founding. In 2020, the Medical Society of South Carolina and Bon Secours Mercy Health entered into a partnership to jointly own and operate Roper St. Francis Healthcare, with Bon Secours Mercy Health holding a 51% stake in the system. The partnership represents a compelling opportunity to unite the complementary strengths of both organizations for the benefit of Roper St. Francis and the Charleston community. Recently, Brian White was recruited to lead as the new President and CEO of RSFH and create the preeminent healthcare system in the coastal South Carolina region.
RSFH is a mission-driven health system that strives to care for its diverse community and improve the health of those that they serve through a spirit of charity and giving back. RSFH facilities, programs and services have received numerous local, regional and national honors, accreditations and awards, including the Patient Safety Award from Leapfrog Group and the Outstanding Patient Experience Award from Healthgrades in 2019.
A focus on consumerism, innovation, customer service and leadership development is key. A strong understanding of the changes in healthcare, their impact on the organization and its customers, and a demonstrated ability to meet these challenges, including population health and patient/community engagement through IT advancement, will be essential to the success of this new leader.
The position requires a confident, emotionally intelligent, forward leaning, “big picture thinking” technology leader who has significant history and demonstrated experience in innovation and customer service, as well as the ability to collaborate with all stakeholders, plan and execute solutions, while also providing day-to-day “boots on the ground” IT leadership. Key skill sets necessary to be successful in this role will be a demonstrated ability to mentor and hire strong teams; provide a strong sense of purpose and trust; and holding individuals accountable for the overall success of their efforts. Strategy and execution are the essential skill sets for the VP/CIO.
