Marshfield Clinic Health System (MCHS), based in Marshfield, WI has retained WittKieffer to assist in the search for its inaugural Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) for Marshfield Medical Center – Minocqua. The CAO will have oversight of a new 18-bed hospital opening in early July as well as the Minocqua Center medical campus with approximately 70 providers who have been providing comprehensive outpatient health care to residents in the Northwoods for 30 years.
The CAO will need to be comfortable in a fast paced, growth oriented environment, where operational efficiency and high performance is required. This is an opportunity for a CAO to join the system at an exciting time as Marshfield is on a multi-year journey to become an integrated health system.
The Marshfield Clinic Health System (MCHS), widely known for their quality of care throughout central Wisconsin, has grown into a fully integrated health system through rapid growth. Over the past two years, MCHS has grown from having one acute care hospital and a joint venture hospital to a current total of eight, plus one new site under development. Today, MCHS is a $2.4 billion health system comprised of a delivery system and health plan. MCHS has 55 clinical locations, eight hospitals and 1,150 providers. Security Health Plan serves 230,000 members across all 72 Wisconsin counties.
This 18 bed, greenfield hospital in Minocqua will be the newest hospital to join the system. With approximately $120 million in revenues within the Minocqua market and an already strong clinic presence, MCHS will now be able to optimize services across the Northwoods region. MCHS is already planning for future growth initiatives in the Northwoods, as the anticipated volumes will require increased capacity. The ideal candidate will possess a strong operational background gained from senior level experience within a health system, and an understanding of medical group practice operations. The CAO will also facilitate and guide a strong alignment between clinic and acute care operations and will be responsible for overseeing both inpatient and outpatient operations across the region. Candidates should be comfortable working in close collaboration with a physician dyad partner, and be familiar with working in a highly matrixed health system.
