Serves as the APACHE clinical content expert for AdventHealth. Provides consultation to AdventHealth Clinical and other AdventHealth hospitals to standardize and identify clinical best practices on clinical outcomes management across APACHE.
Collaborates with AdventHealth Clinical Leadership on clinical outcome metrics evaluation and process improvement initiatives. Provides ongoing analysis of outcomes data and insights generated from abstraction process to support the achievement of positive patient outcomes.
Maintains expert knowledge of APACHE Methodology (including APACHE IVb) through ongoing training and education
Manages clinical operations for the APACHE Outcomes team. Ensures that the all outcome data accurately represents the quality of care provided by AdventHealth facilities.
Provides ongoing quality assessment of abstraction, ensuring integrity of data and efficiency of abstraction process. Ensures the accuracy, timeliness, reliability, frequency, and level of detail of staff work product though regular review and validation of team member work.
Collaborates with analytics team to provide insights and review accuracy of aggregated clinical outcomes. Collaborates internally with AIT to implement software and validation of system functionality. Externally works with APACHE vendor to facilitate training and resolution of vendor-related issues.
Evaluates nursing staff by direct observation, peer review, employee input, documenting this as part of ongoing and annual performance evaluations. Incorporate positive disciplinary action as appropriate.
Manages nursing team and employment decisions, champions a diverse workforce. Develops succession planning for team, including own position; identifies high performing staff and actively mentors others into leadership roles within the team.
What You Will Need:
Education and Experience Required:
Graduate of school of nursing (RN)
Bachelorâ™s Degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration or other healthcare related discipline
Six (6) years or more of acute care, critical care or other relevant nursing experience
Two (2) years or more of experience as APACHE Coordinator
Two (2) years progressive leadership experience
Licensure, Certification or Registration Required:
Current, valid license as a registered professional nurse (RN)
Knowledge and Skills Required:
Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to focus detailed, concentrated effort on multiple projects and re-establish priorities as necessary
Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 Products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook) and database management applications
Strong understanding of complex medical conditions and surgical procedures to make clinical judgements on appropriateness of clinical care to measure quality and outcomes
Competency regarding communication and relationship building
Leadership skills through timely, appropriate decisions and organizational ability with appropriate priority setting.
Ability to lead a project independently with little to no direction and manage multiple projects simultaneously while thriving in a setting requiring collaboration and teamwork
The APACHE Outcomes Manager leads a team of APACHE Coordinators supporting AdventHealth. The manager is responsible for ensuring the integrity of abstraction, as well as collaborating with Clinical Leadership to understand patient outcomes and drive improvements. This nurse leader is a collaborator with strong emotional intelligence to lead and support APACHE-related accountabilities. Provides consultation and clinical subject matter expertise to other institutions across AdventHealth to help drive standardization and improve patient outcomes. They must maintain oversight of schedule, accuracy, reliability, frequency, and quality to ensure critical milestones and deliverables are completed in a timely manner through regular review and validation of team member(s) work. The candidate will manage, coach and develop team members who are responsible for complex data abstraction. They will participate in line of business meetings to assist in dissemination, interpretation, and reporting of APACHE Clinical Outcomes to provide Clinical Leadership with routine data for decision-making. The Manager actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
