Full Time Days
You Will Be Responsible For:
Â·Overall responsibility for the management and administration of the Surgery, PACU, and SPD departments by providing qualified personnel and in a cost effective environment to ensure the delivery of quality nursing care.
Â·Recruits, interviews, selects and hires employees for Surgical Services Department to maintain adequate coverage of each area.
Â·Ensures appropriate orientation of new Surgical Services personnel as evidenced by feedback from orientees, staff and completion by orientees of unit based competencies and check-off list.
Â·Conducts performance appraisals or designates department managers to complete performance appraisals within the scheduled month as evidenced by written evaluation conducted by the due date and signed by the employee.
Â·Responsible for supervision and guidance of all staff working in department (Charge Nurse, RN's, LVN's, CSTâ™s, NT's, CNAâ™s, OR Aides, Anesthesia Techs and Unit Secretaries.)
What You Will Need:
Â·Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Â·Currently licensed to practice as an RN in the state of Texas or in a qualifying compact State.
Â·Minimum of five years of experience in surgical services setting with demonstrated leadership abilities appropriate decision making with a history of positive interpersonal relationships with hospital staff, patients and visitors.
The Surgery Director practices as a professional nurse within the limits of the Texas Nurse Practice Act.Is responsible for the overall management and administration of Surgical Services, Sterile Processing and Post Anesthesia Care Unit which includes hiring appropriate and adequate staff, planning, submitting annual budget, is accountable for operating within the approved budget.The Surgery Director is accountable for ensuring that quality nursing care is given to each patient 24 hours a day.Must be able to communicate with doctors, patients, staff, visitors and other medical personnel.Must be able to function independently and efficiently as a member of the hospital team.
