UI Health Care is Iowa's only comprehensive academic medical center and includes University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, the University of Iowa Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine, and University of Iowa Physicians. The University of Iowa College of Nursing is known for the development of evidence-based guidelines for care that are used throughout the nursing community and is consistently ranked as one of the best nursing programs in the nation. Their innovative Nurse Residency Program began in 2009 as a joint venture with UI Hospitals & Clinics.
UI Hospitals and Clinics is the clinical arm of UI Health Care and provides the full spectrum of specialty and subspecialty care that draws patients from Iowa, the region, and around the world.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer-University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, the next CNE will be a strategic and solutions-oriented and serve as a key member of UI Health Care’s executive leadership team. The CNE, leading over 3,000 nurses and over 5,000 FTE, will establish a vision for nursing practice and clinical services for UI Hospitals and Clinics and champion initiatives to advance care and quality outcomes across the system in an integrated and cost effective manner; collaboration with the medical staff on these clinical integration initiatives is critical. The CNE will lead and be involved in all aspects of the health mission for the growing $2 billion clinical enterprise and will build a strong internal leadership team to continue to elevate the professional practice of nursing and building strong partnerships across the enterprise.
This is an outstanding opportunity for a dynamic and progressive leader. The successful candidate will bring broad executive leadership experience within an academic health system or major teaching hospital and a commitment to academic medicine. The CNE will have a minimum of 10 years of administrative responsibility within a complex, comparable health system with progressive experience in nursing leadership positions at the senior level. A Master's degree in Nursing, Business, Public Health, Public Administration or other related field is required, a Doctoral degree in Nursing or related field is desired.
