The Manager, Trauma Registry Systems is responsible for establishing and maintaining an ongoing registry of trauma patients according to the guidelines of the American College of Surgeons (ACS), National Trauma Data Standards (NTDS), Trauma Quality Improvement Program (TQIP) where applicable, and Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS). The Manager will be responsible for oversight, education and direct support for the trauma registries.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE
Assists in the development and implementation of trauma registry updates, department specific policies and procedures, and long range plans to meet trauma department objectives.
Provides leadership and identifies opportunities for registry staff to develop knowledge, skills and abilities needed to perform daily work.
Continually monitors data collection processes and identify opportunities for improvement.
Coordinates the strategic planning and development of standard trauma registries across the system, including the planning, development, organization and evaluation of system trauma data.
Performs all duties of a trauma registrar as required, to ensure the registry remains current in the event of a registrar's absence.
Works closely with trauma program leadership in creating reports, tables, charts and graphs for various meetings, to include research projects. Assists with the development, oversight and process for performing standardized chart audit reviews for data validation, ACS survey review, PI case review, etc.
Ensures all registrars have required educational experience, provides trauma registry education to trauma program staff as required. Utilizes trauma registry data to assist in the creation of education presentations.
Ensures all facilities are submitting data to additional registries per DSHS rules to include: Submersion, Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and Spinal Cord Injury (SCI).
Keeps current with DSHS, NTDS, TQIP and ACS information, processes, rules and regulations. Provides guidance with meeting essential criteria requirements regarding trauma registry rules as outlined in the ACS Resources for the Optimal Care of the Injured Patient and DSHS trauma designation rules (TAC �157.125).
Acts as the trauma registry liaison to the vendor (CDM, Clinical Data Management), DSHS, NTDS, TQIP, and TTCF.
