You bring your body, mind, heart and spirit to your work as a Director Perioperative Services.
You know how to move fast. You know how to stay organized. You know how to have fun.
You’re equally comfortable with leading the day-to-day operations of a busy O.R. in a level II Trauma Center, and engaging with physicians and staff to build a high functioning and high morale department.
You’re great at what you do, but you want to be part of something even greater. Because you believe that while individuals can be strong, the right team is invincible.
Our surgical services department includes 16 O.R.’s that produce 7500 cases per year. This Director would have approximately 5 direct reports and 140 indirect. This individual would report directly to the Chief Operating Officer for Good Samaritan Medical Center.
Good Samaritan Medical Center is part of SCL Health, a faith-based, nonprofit healthcare organization that focuses on person-centered care. At our 234-bed Level II Trauma Center, our mission is to bring health and hope to the poor, the vulnerable, our communities and each other. We’re especially proud of our people, who helped make us one of America’s 100 Best Hospitals according to Healthgrades.
Benefits are one of the ways we encourage health for you and your family. Our generous package includes medical, dental and vision coverage. But health is more than a well-working body: it encompasses body, mind and social well-being. To that end, we’ve launched a Healthy Living program to address your holistic health. Healthy Living includes financial incentives, digital tools, tobacco cessation, classes, counseling and paid time off. We also offer financial wellness tools and retirement planning.
Together we’ll align mission and careers, values and workplace. We’ll encourage joy and take pride in our integrity.
We’ll laugh at each other’s jokes (even the bad ones). We’ll hello and high five. We’ll celebrate milestones and acknowledge the value of spirituality in healing.
We’re proud of what we know, which includes how much there is to learn.
As a Director Perioperative Services you need to know how to:
Direct the operations of the department. Create purpose and meaning for departments and clearly communicate and link purpose and meaning to organizational goals.
Oversee service needs and volumes. Assume 24-hour responsibility for staffing, supervision, and evaluation of all patient care.
Oversee resolution of issues related to service, safety, and quality. Identify and drive quality and performance improvement initiatives.
Direct human resource functions such as interviewing, selection, orientation, education/training, feedback, performance evaluation, and policy and procedure development. Participate in the Talent Management program. Mentor and provide development opportunities for leaders and identify high potential associates to ensure effective succession planning.
Prepare the operational and capital budgets. Monitor and report the performance of the department against budget. Develop annual operating plans, business plans for new services and changes in the organizational structure in the department.
Facilitate multidisciplinary communication and teamwork to assure optimal outcomes in the provision of quality health care. Collaborate with physicians, related to service needs, marketing and strategic planning. Participate in interdisciplinary committees throughout the organization.
Provide direct patient care on a regular basis. Accept responsibility for the standard/level of care in the department. Serve as the clinical/technical expert for physicians and other hospital departments.
Operate a market driven department that emphasizes the customer. Determine how we can do a better job to satisfy our customers.
Encourage and support research and improvement studies that can make meaningful contributions to the quality and economy of nursing services.
We hire people, not resumes. But we also expect excellence, which is why we require:
Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN). Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
Minimum of ten (10) years progressive experience in perioperative services.
Minimum of five (5) years healthcare leadership.
Previous experience at the director level is preferred.
Your next move.
