Job SummaryThis position will have system-wide responsibility and direct the day to day activities of the Healthcare, Architectural & Planning teams, providing leadership, counseling, and mentoring. Assist in identifying project goals, objectives and key drivers with administration, physician groups and other key stakeholders. Recommends appropriate assignment of capital projects to external architectural and engineering firms and directs their work including design peer reviews. Projects will range in scale from campus master planning and feasibility studies, to renovations of existing buildings and additions through to ground up hospital projects.
Job Duties- Collaborates with platform leadership to manage and execute a portfolio of projects for a diverse group of constituents across the health system; understanding project requirements, communicating project status, timelines and issues to leadership.
- Responsible for the facility and departmental planning of healthcare facilities, as well as the aesthetic solution and overall design for projects that are large and/or complex in nature.
- Creates and directs the integrated process which defines the space allocation or addition of space, functional program, scope and architectural characteristics of new projects; ensuring that staff has adequately involved appropriate users to ensure the project has been correctly defined.
- Stays informed of best practice models, both internally and externally and, as appropriate, stays included in improvement processes. This individual must be familiar with current trends in healthcare delivery, the impact of new concepts of patient and staff flow as it relates to medical planning and the impact of newly emerging technology in medical equipment and medical communications in hospitals.
- Allocates and prioritizes work; monitoring performance standards for continuous performance improvement.
- Manages staffing requirements and Human Resource Issues. Coordinates the hiring and training of all positions within the design and planning departments. Participates in the hire of other positions as required.
- Promotes professional growth and development of staff through in-service education and other programs. Utilizes team building concepts to effectively empower team members by serving as a mentor, teacher and coach.
- Maintains a robust workplace environment by; providing feedback to team regarding performance and job-related issues, develops positive and proactive employee relations, and facilitates development, maintenance and success of team during transition periods.
- Proactively identifies changes in work scope and ensures appropriate planning measures are taken with internal and external resources to reassess, renegotiate, and amend scope of work responsibilities, proposals, contracts, and budgets.
- Develops and monitors functional program requirements and realistic budgets that include appropriate funding for all programs and projects in conjunction with Construction Services, the Institute/Service Line and Platform Leaders.
- Responsible for all phases of project development from inception through working drawings and specifications as required to prepare project for bid and subsequent construction. Develop RFP's as required.
- Monitors lead times and critical path with regard to the all project plans.
- Directs the activities of the employed architectural and planning teams; delegating appropriately, providing adequate direction and follow-up, makes optimal use of resources. Serves as a coach and role model for staff and colleagues creating a work environment that fosters respect and positive morale and strong employee engagement.
- Provide for the coordination of all disciplines related to the building design and medical planning; including oversight of system-wide signage programand oversight and coordination of the maintenance, updating and archiving of base drawings.

Required- Bachelor's Degree in Architecture / Architectural Engineering from an accredited School of Architecture Required- Maintains PA architect registration Required- Minimum of seven (7) years of related work experience in healthcare design management and a minimum of five (5) years in the design implementation of a multi-campus healthcare system's master facilities plan Required- Minimum of five (5) years of managerial/supervisory experience
