Chief, Division of Pediatric Urology

Position overview:

The Department of Urology of The Albert Einstein College of Medicine & The Montefiore Medical Center invites expressions of interest in the position of Chief, The Division of Pediatric Urology. The Chief serves as the clinical and administrative leader of the Division within The Department and at The Children’s Hospital at Montefiore (CHAM). The current Division includes 3 full time, fellowship trained Pediatric Urologists and a nurse practitioner.  The Division of Pediatric Urology offers comprehensive care of all children with urologic needs. Access to advanced technology including video urodynamics, Da Vinci robots (Xi and Si) and dedicated office space at several locations permit delivery of the full suite of services required by children with diseases of the genito-urinary tract.  The Division supports robust multidisciplinary programs to serve patients with stone disease, spina bifida and neuro-urologic disorders, prenatal concerns, and children born intersex. 

Reporting structure:

The Chief of Pediatric Urology reports to The Chair of Urology.

Responsibilities:

• Provide the overall strategic clinical direction and medical leadership for the Division;
• Oversee patient services including interaction with Departmental QA/QI leadership to provide safety and risk management activities;
• Lead overall academic and clinical development strategy for the Division;
• Interface with Departmental Business Development leadership to provide subject matter expertise on all clinical strategic initiatives;
• Develop clinical trial opportunities in collaboration with Division faculty and Departmental clinical trials leadership;
• Manage relationships with other departments and sections within CHAM;
• Mentor and develop the careers of faculty members within the Division and provide regular evaluation of clinical faculty and staff. Lead the recruitment of additional faculty and staff;
• Contribute in an active and ongoing manner to the scientific, academic and clinical culture of the Department.
• Establish productive, interactive relationships with key internal departments, as well as the medical and scientific community.

CHAM is the 193 bed tertiary care pediatric hospital of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine & The Montefiore Medical Center serving a local population of more than two million in the Bronx, Westchester and the lower Hudson Valley.  CHAM has been recognized by US News and World Report as one of the best children’s hospitals in The United States across multiple pediatric subspecialties. The Division of Pediatric Urology currently sees patients at two locations in the Bronx and one in lower Westchester, and provides both same-day and inpatient surgical services at CHAM.
