POSITION PURPOSE: Responsible for 24 hour planning, organizing, directing, coordinating, and evaluating activities related to Bed Control, including recommendations for nursing float pool assignments. Participates in the planning of patient care needs and coordinates patient activities with related departments. Establishes and maintains a systematic review and assessment of bed availability. Ensures appropriate assignment based on clinical need and staffing constraints. Works with other departments to assess the need for standards to optimize the utilization of beds (inclusive of pre-operative days and direct admissions).
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Valid RN license required. B.A. or B.S. and RN required. At least 5 years experience in a health care setting
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: A minimum of two years of experience in an acute care facility required. Experience in Utilization Review activities and/or in an admission office setting preferred. Experience dealing with certifying organizations (JCAHO) preferred.
PROFESSIONAL LICENSURE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIRED: Currently licensed as an RN in the State of MA. Basic Life Support (BLS) required. #LI-JS2
