Manager, Respiratory Therapy

Under the guidance of the Technical Director of Respiratory Therapy, the Manager of Respiratory Therapy administers and monitors the department to provide respiratory therapy treatments and diagnostic services. This is a professional position with both operational and administrative responsibilities.

You Will:

• Execute planning, delegation and scheduling of Respiratory Therapy functions.
• Ensure departmental policies are being followed.
• Compile monthly statistical reports regarding staff volume and charges.
• Compile quality assurance data into report format for review by Technical Director.
• Request and maintain equipment and storeroom supplies or delegate to Technical Supervisors.
• Recommend and participate in personnel actions, such as hiring, promotions, terminations, employee counseling and disciplinary action.
• Ensure coordination of orientation and training of staff.
• Consult with physicians and nurses to coordinate application of Respiratory Therapy equipment and techniques.
• Evaluate new procedures and methods; submit findings to Technical Director.
• Assist in the development and review of departmental policies and procedures.
• Communicate necessary information to Technical Director regarding any critical operational issues that are pending and/or unresolved.
• Attend Departmental Quality Improvement Meetings and provide input to the committee on identified issues or improvements.
• In collaboration with the Director and Educational Coordinator, assist in the development and provision of on-going Educational Programs and CEU Programs.
• Ensure work assignments are delegated appropriately by supervisors in order to meet department and Center needs.
• In collaboration with Technical Director make decisions on hiring, orientation, corrective active, and evaluate the performance of staff.
• Provide guidance, feedback, and opportunities for development, as appropriate.
• Serve as technical and clinical resource to department and Center staff on all aspects of cardiopulmonary techniques. Ensure proper maintenance of all technical equipment.
• Lead formal and informal clinical education/in-service training sessions for RT and Center staff.
• Ensure that safety and infection control guidelines are followed.
• Assist in developing new services and programs that improve workflow, efficiency and patient care. Actively initiate and oversee research projects in the Respiratory Department.

You Need:

• A Bachelors Degree in Respiratory Therapy/Health Sciences. Other majors are acceptable when combined with an Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy/Health Sciences.
• 4-7 years of respiratory therapy experience (2+ years in a supervisory role)
• RRT - Registered Respiratory Therapist (required)
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
• Effective written/verbal communication and oral presentation skills required. Excellent interpersonal, leadership, decision-making and issue resolution skills are essential.
