Valley Health, in Winchester, Virginia, seeks a dynamic, experienced group practice leader to serve as its next Vice President and COO, Valley Physician Enterprise (VPE). This is a critical role for Valley Health in leading the advancement of its approximately 300 employed physicians into a mature, high performing, integrated multispecialty group. This newly created position affords a collaborative, strategic and operationally-oriented leader the opportunity to build a cohesive and high-performing medical group that is part of Valley Health, a growing, financially stable, regional integrated health system focused on high reliability and the delivery of high quality, safe, accessible, cost effective care.
Reporting to, and in Dyad collaboration with, Iyad Sabbagh, MD, Chief Physician Executive for Valley Health, the COO will provide operational oversight of the system’s physician practice and will be responsible for advancing the vision and improving the integration and performance for VPE, a growing, major strategic component of Valley Health. VPE was created in 2007, initially as a way to build collaborative relationships with largely specialty practices in an environment that, at the time, comprised mostly independent practices. Since then, VPE's growth has accelerated and today VPE also has a convening, coordinating role with VH's many contracted arrangements with specialty practices.
The COO will advance strategies and operational processes and structures that will allow for further physician alignment across the system. This leader will focus on evolving and growing an infrastructure that will improve operational efficiency, consistency and performance, help support providers in their alignment goals, and provide greater access to care across Valley Health's geographically broad service area. The successful candidate will be a proven leader who has held progressive leadership positions within a complex group practice or provider practice within an integrated health system. Experience in an environment where importance is placed on collaborating with physicians and engaging medical staff and employees around organizational initiatives to improve processes, service, and outcomes is required.
The COO will be a contributing member of the overall Valley Health senior team, joining the CEO's weekly meetings and supporting overall system goals and initiatives. The COO will advance initiatives that support VPE thriving in value-based care delivery which is currently relatively immature in Valley Health's market. The COO will focus on fostering a strong cohesive group culture and supporting the clinical work with effective and efficient systems and processes focused on service excellence and continuous improvement. This is a tremendous professional opportunity to join a high performing organization in a beautiful setting in the Shenandoah Valley, less than 90 minutes from Washington, D.C.
