This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Develops baseline references and profiles and identifies statistical deviations or variances which might affect risk management efforts and/or might merit additional study to prevent untoward events. Trends complex data related to Risk Management to ensure timely follow-up and investigation of sentinel events and facilitates the development and implementation of action plans designed to prevent reoccurrence. Possesses current knowledge and skills related to external accreditation standards/agencies (i.e. The Joint Commission, Office of Inspector General, Office of Medical Inspector, and best practices in Risk Management in a health care environment. Monitors the follow-up to recommendations specific to risk resulting from external agencies such as, The Joint Commission and other accreditation and external review visits. Consults with organizational leaders and staff as required, in policy review, formulation and communication, implementation, and evaluation, and in setting of organizational priorities related to Risk Management Prepares reports as required. Provides orientation to providers regarding Risk Management Leads quality improvement activities that result in improved outcomes. Coordinates all facets of Administrative Investigation Boards (AIB) Oversees all facets of Peer Review process including notifying providers of need for written responses to incidents, coordinating presentation of Peer Review cases for the Peer Review Committee, reviewing records using clinical knowledge/judgment as well as appropriate and consistent critical thinking skills for quality of care issues. Provides guidance and support to the Medical Center staff, directs the development and maintenance of programs such as peer review that are designed to reduce risk at all levels with the healthcare system, and provides professional management, educational assistance, policy development and implementation guidance using quality assurance process in the area of risk management. Ensures there is an effective system for monitoring and trending of all risk management activities, including investigation reports and tort claims.
