Under the direction of the Assistant Director, UCDH Managed Care Contracts and Payor/Provider Relations, position supports UCDH Contracts and UCDH Department of Pharmacy in writing, negotiating, drafting, editing and maintaining pharmacy-focused contract documents, and administers/implements the pharmacy contracts during the term of the agreements. The incumbent is a subject matter-experienced individual focused in the area of Pharmacy services contracting who works independently and proactively with decision-making responsibility. Incumbent serves as a resource for UCDH staff and others to provide information and advice on the terms of all contracted pharmacy arrangements including retail/PBM, Specialty Pharmacy, Pharmacy-based Home Infusion and 340B pharmacy services. The incumbent is responsible for cooperation with and coordination with health systems Department of Pharmacy and other operational areas as needed. In addition, the incumbent evaluates and implements changes in federal and state law and University policy related to pharmacy contracting and provides information and training to UCDH staff in the preparation, negotiation and administration of pharmacy contracts through a variety of means.
Bachelors Degree in business or related field and/or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
Demonstrated extensive experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating complex pharmacy vendor contracts with documented experience negotiating pharmacy PBM, Specialty Pharmacy, Pharmacy-based Home Infusion and 340B arrangements in either the provider setting and/or payer setting.
Demonstrated advanced experience and knowledge pertaining to pharmacy contracting, programs, products, operations and policies from the perspective of a provider, academic institution and/or pharmacy payer.
Demonstrated ability to communicate in writing in a clear, concise and professional manner, via email, letter, and contract documents with the ability to interact with a wide variety of people in the private sector, public sector, government, non-profit organizations, and educational institutions, as well as with internal faculty and UCDH staff.

Demonstrated ability to make sound decisions and recommend appropriate strategies to Contracts, Pharmacy and other UCDH department management based upon knowledge and data.
Operating knowledge and skills of necessary to utilize business applications such as MS Word, Excel, Acrobat, Internet-based web portals/applications, etc.
Advanced business or related degree, or, degree in Law
Financial modeling skills with expertise in pharmacy-focused data, spreadsheets and database applications
Prior work experience in an academic health care system OR a pharmacy payer and knowledge of academic or healthcare policies, procedures and issues
Familiarity with the UCDH C360 Contract Management Software
Demonstrated knowledge of pertinent university policies and procedures falling within the scope of the position.
