The ECU is a virtual inpatient unit that co-exists in the UCLA Ronald Reagan Emergency Department (ED). The ECU shares physical space within the ED as well as an adjacent 10-bed unit that contains dedicated beds for inpatient boarders who awaiting room assignments on the floors. The ECU census varies based on inpatient hospital capacity. The ideal candidate will have a strong nursing background in medical/surgical/telemetry care, understanding of inpatient core measures and documentation standards. The candidate should possess excellent leadership and customer service skills. Flexibility and the drive to work in fast-paced setting are key to success in this role. Close communication and collaboration with case management, physicians and bed-control are necessary to facilitate high quality patient care and timely throughput.
The ECU Assistant Nurse Manage will report to the unit director (UD) of the Emergency Department. Responsibilities include: Departmental staffing, staffing education, clinical/regulatory compliance and financial resource management. This role will directly supervise the administrative and clinical practices of the ECU to ensure excellent patient experiences and clinical outcomes. You will assist the UD with the active daily management, including but not limited to staffing and related tasks to address resource use, developing/conducting clinical surveillance, workflow audits and managing the day-to-day operations. Leading by example and providing professional growth and development opportunities for the ECU clinical staff is expected.
BSN or MSN required
CA RN license
3 years minimum of Med-Surg and/or Tele experience
