The Cancer Center Nurse Manager position located in the Michael E. DeBakey Medical Center will be in the Medical Care Line Service. The Nurse Manager (NM) of the Cancer Center demonstrates a high level of clinical expertise, leadership, and creative approaches to management of complex care. S/he also demonstrates knowledge of scope of practice and RN accountability in assignment, delegation, and supervision of staff. The Cancer Center NM applies skills necessary to identify, coordinate, and/or identify discipline-specific education and arranges training for staff and demonstrates competencies specific to the management of clinical setting in Cancer Center). S/he ensures staff compliance with MCL goals, nurse-sensitive indicators, and performance measures, provides oversight for the administration of leave, counseling and disciplinary actions and assists other MCL NMs in coverage of other MCL units as needed for leave. Acts as the Nurse Executive as delegated during the absence of the Nurse Executive. This position will be evaluated using the Executive Career Field Performance Appraisal Program.
