GENERAL SUMMARY: Under the general direction of the Director of Rehab Services and with minimal supervision, performs duties to provide quality patient care within the scope of services for the Rehab Dept.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Operational quality results: Quality of Work or Services Provided: ensures that patient satisfaction surveys scores are meeting or exceeding standards established by administration; work and data collection is done with thoroughness and accuracy; continually evaluate/monitor systems/services provided and make improvements as necessary and/or appropriate; meet Joint Commission and other accrediting and regulatory requirements. Meets deadlines and schedules as requested. Communicates and collaborates with patients, families, physicians, and other health team members, ensuring that their needs are met in a timely manner. Carries consistent caseload proportional to administrative duties. Works with other hospital departments to promote Rehab as well as high quality patient care.
2. Human resource management: Responsible for employee morale and climate within the program; meets turnover rate expectations. Creates a positive work environment. Hires competent and skilled staff based on need of the department/program; disciplines staff per policy; provides timely performance reviews, maintains up to date dept. human resource folder on all direct reports, performs timely review of professional licensure and other credentials. Schedules and runs regular staff meetings. Assesses and assists staff with training and development, ensuring ongoing competency. Ensures staff are informed of and complete hospital wide mandatory education. Supports and applies internal procedures of the hospital and department.
3.Financial management: Meets productivity and volume expectations, supporting a profit. Assists Department Director in monitoring and controlling expenses. Provides pertinent budgetary data weekly, monthly and as requested by department director. Monitors expenditures on monthly basis and assists in development of fiscal year budgets.
4.Departmental planning and business development: Development of operational goals, plans, budgets, policies and procedures; implementation of approved goals, plans, budgets, policies and procedures; responsible for other projects as assigned by Director of Rehab Services. Participates actively in promoting Rehab Department through development of marketing materials, attendance at community events, communication with referral sources. Assists staff in development and management of specialty programs.
5.Other assignments/major projects/special duties and responsibilities: Responds to ad hoc assignments, handles â��crisesâ�� and resolves administrative matters. Participates in hospital wide activities and committees as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS: 1. Patient Care Environment. One-to-one or small group interactions with staff/patient/client/family/caregiver/peers and other personnel; frequent interruptions/distractions; travel between units/areas, programs, and/or off-site locations. Occasional time spent outdoors or in hot, cold or wet conditions. 2. Light to moderate lifting, prolonged standing and walking; occasional pushing, bending, lifting, and/or carrying objects (2lbs to 75lbs)

OTHER JOB KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS: 1. Licensure by Massachusetts Board of Allied Health Professional. Current CPR certification. 2. BS or MS or Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech- Language Pathology, or Athletic Training. Outpatient and/or inpatient therapy or sports medicine skills preferred; management experience required.
