The Marion VA Medical Center is seeking a highly motivated Registered Nurse to serve as an Assistant Nurse Manger (ANM) in the Inpatient Medical/Surgical Unit. The ANM, in collaboration with the Nurse Manager, functions as a supervisor and assumes accountability for the 24/7 operation of the department. The ANM will serve as the acting Nurse Manager during his/her absence. The ANM and Nurse Manager are a high functioning team, working cohesively to create a positive work environment which enhances care delivered by nursing and other allied health care staff. Responsibilities includes the management, evaluation, and implementation of evidenced-based nursing practice. The ANM is responsible for executing his/her duties in a manner that demonstrates leadership, clinical expertise, and creative approaches to the management of patient care for adult and geriatric patients. Promotes, creates, demonstrates and ensures a culturally diverse workforce in which the values and needs of all individuals are respected. Works cooperatively with union leadership and will adhere to EEO principles. The ANM will make sound fiscal decisions when requesting supplies, approving time off, and authorizing overtime in compliance with unit and hospital financial goals. The ANM is also responsible for coaching, mentoring, and supervising subordinate staff. The ANM will work collaboratively with the Team to ensure that all administrative functions are adequately covered. The ANM assumes role in coverage/ staffing 40% of the time and will serve as the acting Nurse Manager during his/her absence. The incumbent should possess good organizational skills which enable completion of work, a demonstrated ability to assume leadership in a patient centered program, and the ability to establish effective communication with patients, families, visitors, and members of the interdisciplinary team. The incumbent delivers care in accordance with established standards and hospital policies and procedures, as well as accepts responsibility and maintains accountability for own actions and for professional and personal growth. PLEASE NOTE: This position requires Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification due to having 24-hour telemetry monitoring capability. If selected, Applicant will provide proof of current certification prior to employment. Only BLS certification which included Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and ACLS certification obtained from either the American Heart Association (AHA) or the Military Treatment Training Network (MTN) will be accepted. Work Schedule: 5:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., Four (4) 10 hour shifts per week, with rotating day off, weekends off. Financial Disclosure Report: Not required
