Manages the department's daily operations in alignment with the mission, values, and objectives of the department and organization. Performs the duties of the Director in his/her absence.
Participates in the recruitment, interviewing, selection, training, and evaluation of staff. Assigns workloads and monitors quantity and quality of work. Provides training programs for staff as well as safety training for the organization. Participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of practices, policies and procedures in all functional areas of the department. Accountable for the development and monitoring of, and compliance with, the departmental budget. Demonstrates broad knowledge of applicable statutory, regulatory and administrative requirements relative to departmental operations and accountable for the department's compliance with the same. Conducts annual risk assessment and security program evaluations and assists other departments with performing their evaluations. Ensures that incident reports are documented, evaluated, and results reported to the appropriate committees.
Associate’s degree in criminal justice or related field, or equivalent experience required. Bachelor’s degree in related field, or equivalent experience preferred.
Minimum five years Security experience in a health-care environment, supervisory experience strongly preferred. Working knowledge of applicable regulations, laws and techniques required. Working knowledge of emergency management, with a preferred knowledge of the Incident Command System.
