The Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at Carilion Clinic in Roanoke, VA is seeking a Midwifery Service Director to guide our growing practice. The Director will provide L&D coverage at CRMH and see patients in a Roanoke-based ambulatory clinic and will oversee the operations for both Roanoke and New River midwifery care models. The position will report to the Chair of the OB/GYN Department.
In addition to clinical responsibilities the Director will collaborate with the Carilion Women's leadership team to develop a strategic growth plan for a Nurse-Midwifery care model throughout the Carilion Clinic system, positioning Carilion Clinic as a regional and national leader in quality midwife-led care delivery. Will Provide vision, guidance, and active support in establishing a practice model that optimizes the role of the CNM in Carilion Clinic, with the goal of excellence in patient experience and outcomes. Work to align the goals of the Nurse-Midwifery care model with that of the strategic planning mission of Carilion Clinic. Collaborates with Finance and Operations to establish and maintain productivity standards. Management or leadership experience in midwifery is strongly preferred. The ideal candidate will possess a commitment to clinical excellence, passion for serving women and families, excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong organizational skills and attention to detail, ability to appropriately prioritize a variety of duties while under pressure, experience collaborating with multiple departments and disciplines and ability to follow research and changing guidelines in midwifery, OB/GYN, and healthcare. Office hours will be 8am-5pm with 24 hour call responsibilities.
Masters or Doctoral prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and midwifery program approved by the American College of Nurse Midwives (ACNM).
Preferred qualifications include: Prior professional work experience in a certified nurse-midwife role serving a diverse patient population. Active involvement and leadership in professional nursing organizations is strongly preferred. A current VA RN and APRN license, current ACNM certification as a CNM, BLS certification certification required.
