Kaiser Permanente-Washington Permanente Medical Group is seeking a Full Time 1.0 FTE Senior Business Operations Director to join our WPMG HQ team in Renton, Washington.

The Business Operations Senior Director is responsible for program design/development, staffing and oversight of WPMG's Care Delivery Business Operations. This individual will partner with the CFO, VP Strategy, Chief Operating Officer, and WPMG Medical Directors to determine priority work for the department.
Care Delivery Business Operations provides key business and financial planning support to WPMG's medical leaders. This team is integral to the delivery of the KP Promise to every member, every time. This means: Quality you can trust; Convenient and easy to get care; Care with a personal touch; Affordable While based on a targeted group of objectives, and associated business capabilities in the near-term, the program will be broadened and extended further across the medical program over time.
High-level objectives include;
Development and deployment of provider staffing models, growth plans and management of external pro fees, approached at the service line and district level, and in collaboration with WPMG Analytics, the Business Strategy Team, the Network Services Team, the Solutions Center, and the Medical Directors of Operations for Specialty, District, Acute/Post-Acute and Ancillary.
Support to access management initiatives, in collaboration with senior medical leaders in all specialty service lines and primary care.
Operationalizing strategic business plans for an assigned group of specialties or a geographic service area. Includes development and updating of specialty staffing models, deploying productivity and affordability metrics and standards, service delivery planning, and monitoring/action planning around external, professional costs (pf/EDS).
Financial management duties involving tracking adherence to staffing models, FTE management, budgets or other financial and access measures - and performing make/buy analysis.
Program development opportunities, including development of new clinical programs as required by the market, analyzing and consulting on improving clinical program outcomes related to access and affordability in collaboration with service line or operational leadership.
Management of Business Operations Directors overseeing district clinical operations, specialty, ancillary and acute/post-acute divisions.
Support execution of key WPMG Operating Plan Initiatives
Program staff partner with WPMG's Analytics and Finance teams to support the WPMG Executive Management team and functional Medical Directors. This involves collaborative design, deployment and application of analytic models, dashboards, and key management processes - and providing consultative advice to stakeholders and health plan partners in support of organizational strategy and business and clinical improvements opportunities.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Identify critical path needs in collaboration with CFO, VP Strategy and key, medical leader customers.
Engage medical leaders and WPMG Admin functional leaders in prioritizing program staff's work over initial 3, 6 and 12 month time horizons.
Identify and coordinate interdependencies and working relationships with WPMG Analytics, Finance, Strategy, and KPWA partners.
Partner with KP National and other KP Regions in leveraging best practices and applying National standards.
Staff Development and Performance
Recruit, interview and on-board program staff.
Create business curriculum, and ensure team receives, effective and robust orientation.
Establish and conduct the performance management process for the department.
Develop career paths for year 1 staff, looking ahead towards years 2-3 program design.
Create clear written and oral communications to support WPMG's and KP's vision, mission, and operating plan with the medical group at large; care delivery at large, community at large; WPMG Board; and leadership forums.
Identify change management opportunities and guiding medical leadership successfully through the journey and the successful cascading of leadership messages to all stakeholders.
Support and drive towards the integration of care delivery across departments, ambulatory care and throughout the continuum of care to reduce "silos" of care in order to provide the best quality of care, enhanced care experience and more affordable care.
Collaborate with medical leader to build a culture of equity by understanding health disparities and creating system level interventions to address them.
Identify measures of success, and ties to AIP and MOU goals for the medical group
Actively track process measures and milestones for the team
Provide business support to select specialties (not assigned to other team members).
Perform special projects as needed at the direction of CFO, VP Strategy.
Staff Engagement and Relationship Management
Partner with senior leaders, business partners, and the Senior Associate Medical Director of Human Resources & Compliance to develop, foster, and promote the systems, knowledge base, and leadership development needed to manage and enhance business operations performance.
Partner with WPMG CFO, VP Strategy and Medical Directors to meet deadlines for performance evaluations for Clinical Operations Leaders and direct reports.
