The University of Minnesota Medical Center is looking for a Nurse Manager for the Perianesthesia (Pre-Op/PACU) Department and Pediatric Sedation Unit on the West Bank of their campus.This Nurse Manager role will plan, manage, coordinate, and evaluate the patient care activities of these units. Our nursing staff provides quality and compassionate care for adult and pediatric patients before and after their surgery/procedure, either in the Main Operating Room or within the Pediatric Sedation Unit.
The Nurse Manager is responsible for promoting the practice of professional nursing as well as the development and utilization of resources. The Nurse Manager works in collaboration with and is accountable to the Perioperative Nursing Director. The Manager works cooperatively with administration, physicians, staff and customers of the M Health Fairview system to provide services and consistently meet and exceed expectations of the people we serve. They are accountable for aspects of budgeting, performance management and human resources matters, including recruitment and the administration of disciplinary measures. The Manager implements and supports safety protocols and regulations ensuring compliance with federal, state and local requirements and meets all Joint Commission requirements. The Nurse Manager will model behaviors consistent with M Health Fairviews mission, vision and philosophy and effectively maintain the hospitals Standards of Care and Practice.
Manages the day-to-day operations of assigned area(s) to ensure support of the mission, goals, and objectives of assigned area(s) and Fairview Health Services
Develops and/or provides input into budget for assigned area(s) according to established procedures.
Ensures that a process for collecting, monitoring and reporting quality data exists for assigned area.
Investigates and responds appropriately to all complaints and takes effective, corrective action when necessary.
Utilizes the nursing process in problem solving,
Serves as a role model for staff.
Manages change using a planned, orderly approach.
Demonstrates ability to implement problem-solving mechanisms in both routine and emergency situations.
Delegates appropriate tasks to staff.
Ensures implementation and development of standards of practice in patient care that reflect valid research findings.
Evaluates, develops and revises clinical systems to assure regulatory compliance.
Advocates for patient, family and staff needs.
Drive improvement activities that promote patient centered care and positive customer experience.
In partnership the Nursing Practice and Education team assure that evidence based/best practice clinical care is being delivered.
Ensures staff compliance in areas of job requirements, education and clinical competency.
Works with Nurse Director to establish goals and objectives.
Promotes a culture of high employee engagement, professional development, nursing education and research.
Partners with interprofessional team members across the continuum of care to achieve organizational outcomes.
Acts in accordance with the Fairview Commitments and the Safety Always behaviors.
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or related field. If bachelors is not in nursing then must have a Master's degree in nursing.
Four Years nursing experience, at least two of which is in a formal or informal (charge, lead, preceptor) leadership role.
Minnesota RN license
Preferred Advanced Degree in nursing or related field
Other forms of supervisory or management experience
