The Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) is responsible for managing daily unit operations, assisting staff with education and competencies, and ensuring safe and therapeutic care for the patients assigned to the unit, as directed, by the NM. This will include, but is not limited, to the following responsibilities: Delegating and coordinating work flow Coordinating education to maintain competencies Contributes feedback that can be used by the NM in the performance review of subordinates Staffing the unit 24 hours a day/7 days a week (24/)7, which may include making and editing schedules in AcuStaf; reviewing and approving premiums in VATAS, as appropriate under the guidance of the NM Participating in rounding on patients Interacting with other disciplines Reviewing documentation Participation in Community Living Center (CLC) and hospital committees Participation in interdisciplinary meetings Preparation for inspection by surveying bodies Other duties as assigned. The ANM executes position responsibilities that demonstrate leadership, experience, and creative approaches to management of the CLC Veterans. The ANM functional role includes assisting the NM with planning, as well as organizing and coordinating the clinical components, in response to individual healthcare needs, along the illness and care continuum, while a Veteran within CLC. The goals are to center services around the Veteran, to foster Veteran independence to their highest functional capacity, and maximize efficient and cost-effective use of healthcare resources. The ANM utilizes all avenues of resources available to provide safe and efficient timely coordination of quality healthcare and interdisciplinary services. The ANM will participate with unit based council leaders to coordinate the development and periodic revision of policies and procedures with the NM to ensure consistent and efficient processes and staff dissemination.
