The Veterans Healthcare Administration is recruiting for a Nurse Manager - RCI (Referral Coordination Initiative), at the Atlanta VA Medical Center located at 1670 Clairmont Rd, Decatur, GA 30033. The Nurse Manager must be have extensive clinical & leadership experience, with proven track record of positive outcomes. Experience must be within a highly complex healthcare organization setting with a variety of progressive responsibilities impacting multiple levels and avenues of care. The Nurse Manager has designated first-line supervisory authority, responsibility, and accountability for the 24/7 operations of Referral Coordination Initiative Center, ensuring that staff provide timely processing of pending Clinical Consult referrals in compliance with the standards of the VHA Referral Coordination Initiative guidelines. The Nurse Manager is also responsible for performance measures, performance improvement, customer service/patient satisfaction, patient and employee safety, interviewing applicants, employee relations, standards of care and practice, the work environment, and accreditation and regulatory standards. The Nurse Manager actively develops and manages collaborative partnerships with physicians and other clinicians. The Nurse Manager is at all times responsible for overall staffing of their unit, validating the nursing hours per patient day, and working with other Nurse Managers to identify and share resources. The Nurse Manager is responsible for time scheduling of the unit, coaching staff, dealing with employee conduct and performance issues, completing and submitting recurring reports, proficiencies and performance evaluations in a timely manner. The Nurse Manager participates on Service and Medical Center committees and task forces to improve nursing practice and patient care. The Nurse Manager identifies educational needs of staff and ensures that these needs are addressed. The Nurse Manager works in partnership with the union and adheres to EEO principles. In the absence of a Nurse Manager, a cross-covering Nurse Manager will be designated to handle administrative and clinical issues, such as staffing coverage, granting leave, and patient and/or staff issues. The Nurse Manager reports directly to The Chief Nursing Officer for Medical Specialty Nursing. Functions: The incumbent has continuing responsibility for all the following (not all inclusive). Planning work to be accomplished by subordinates, setting priorities and preparing schedules for completion of work Assigning work to subordinates based on priorities, selective consideration of difficulty and the requirements of the assignments, and the capabilities of subordinates Evaluating the performance of subordinates Internal and External Customer Service Required: Master's degree in nursing Preferred: At least 2 years management/leadership experience Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm Telework: Not available.
