The Director has responsibility for planning, developing, implementing, leading and evaluating all aspects of Rehabilitation Services for Mary Free Bed at Sparrow, Acute Care & Lift Team and Mary Free Bed at Sparrow Day Rehab. The Director provides leadership for the delivery of quality compassionate, cost effective services by working in cooperation with other ancillary departments and nursing administration.

Coordinate all aspects of the delivery of Rehabilitation services including the direct supervision of management personnel.
Ensures physician contracts and billing services are consistent with Sparrow's Corporate Compliance Plan.
Creates a shared vision which motivates others to achieve operational goals and objectives that are aligned with Sparrow's Plan of Excellence.
Create, manage departmental budgets, monitors and assures achievement of productivity targets by staff.
Creates enhanced medical staff relationships and other key customer group relationships.
Identify the need for revision of existing services or development of new services in response to changing customer’s needs and expectations and develop, present and implement business plans.
Restructure systems, workflows and reporting relationships within multiple service line areas to best achieve operational goals.
Select direct reports and approve selections made by direct reports.
Leads in the developing and implementing effective business plans aligned with Sparrow’s Plan of Excellence.
Advise Executives regarding the required mix, number and distribution of Caregivers within a specific area of responsibility and maintain the maximum utilization of assigned resources.
Clearly communicates the mission, vision and values of the organization to all Rehabilitation Caregivers.
Establish clear, concise and mutually agreed upon expectations for direct reports and determine performance by utilizing a formal performance appraisal. Review and approve the performance appraisals constructed by direct reports.
Determine the development needs of direct reports and provides appropriate growth opportunities.
Participates in local and regional education programs related to the service areas.
Provides ongoing input into Sparrow's Plan of Excellence process.
Coordinates the development of information in support of the facility renovations, technology improvements and new program development.
Establish, Develop and implement key strategic plans for Mary Free Bed at Sparrow
Provides information as required by regulatory agencies.
Responsible for accreditation readiness with Joint Commission and CARF.
Responsible for report to Mary Free Bed and Sparrow Joint Venture Board.

Minimum of 5 years' experience in a Director position and/or 10 years' experience in a leadership position.
* Masters in a business or healthcare related field. * BLS * PhD in a business or healthcare related field. Preferred
Specialized Knowledge and Skills
* Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) required to ensure success in negotiating and obtaining support from physicians, nursing staff, administration, volunteers and caregivers. * Strong leadership skills including staff development; planning, organizing, implementing, evaluation, and maintenance of programs and projects; and ability to organize, manage and assume the risks of operating a business.
