The Assistant Nurse Manager is a registered professional nurse who is accountable to the MHRRTP Nurse Manager and the MHRRTP Chief, Anchorage, AK. In collaboration with Nurse Manager, functions as a supervisor and assumes accountability for the management, supervision, and evaluation of care provided by nursing staff within the MHRRTP to include registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, and health technicians. As a registered nurse, the Assistant Nurse Manager is also responsible for contributing to the establishment and implementation of evidence based nursing standards of practice. In collaboration with the MHRRTP Nurse Manager and Chief, creates a positive work environment that enhances care delivery and professional development of clinically competent staff. Promotes, creates, demonstrates, and ensures a culturally diverse workforce in which the values and needs of each individual are respected. Specific tasks include but are not limited to: Provide coverage for the unit in case of RN, LPN, or health technicians outage; Review and ensure appropriate nursing coverage daily; Managing leave requests in VATAS- authorizing/denying requests based on operational needs; Creating nursing schedule; Participating in weekly Mental Health Leadership meetings; Reply to any nursing specific reports assigned through the Joint Patient Safety Reporting (JPSR) system or Patient Safety Manager; Participating in emergency management planning, drills, and implementation in real life events; Meet with nursing staff daily to address any concerns, questions, and address any potential issues; Participate as an active member of patient treatment teams; Participate in nursing interviews, complete reference checks, and submit required paperwork to HR; Monitor and update competency folders for nursing staff; Train and orient new nursing staff as well as conduct annual training for existing nursing staff; Provide nursing staff with mid-year and yearly evaluations with input from the Nurse Manager; Conduct a monthly review of assigned staff's TMS and notify nurses individually of delinquent or soon to expire courses; Train and serve as back-up for the MHRRTP Nurse Manager whenever the Nurse Manager is off-site; Train and serve as back-up for the MHRRTP Admissions Coordinator when the Admissions Coordinator is off-site; Join and participate on an interdepartmental process improvement team/committee; Monitor exam room cleaning and hand hygiene logs; Participate in Environment of Care rounds and develop then implement solutions to needed corrections; Conduct weekly Walk-About in facility to develop preparedness; Participate in room inspections and EOC; Conduct mock tracers for accreditation readiness; Provide training to all staff on correct policies and procedures in the MHRRTP Work Schedule: To be determined upon selection, can be flexible.
