The White River Junction VA Medical Center is recruiting for a full time board certified or board eligible Oncologist to join our Medical Service team. The Chief of Hematology/Oncology will serve as the administrative and clinical lead, and provide oversight of clinical operations, teaching, and research activities of the section. The following incentives may be available to a highly qualified candidate: > Relocation Incentive > Recruitment Incentive > Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) Provide clinical Hematology/Oncology services to patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Evaluate, triage, and prioritize the diagnosis and treatment of patients with known or suspected hematologic or oncologic needs. Develop treatment plans including, but not limited to: diagnosis and treatment of hematological/oncology conditions including bone marrow biopsy & aspirations, chemotherapy, oversight of chemotherapy infusions, rounding on hospitalized patients, attending in clinics, writing prescription medications, and provision of consultative service to referring providers. Coordinate medical management and care with Primary Care providers and other medical personnel in a multidisciplinary health care delivery system. Provide clinical supervision of Heme/Onc Fellows, Internal Medicine Residents and/or students. Provide and/or participate in the resident didactic and education program for fellows, residents, students, or clinical staff. Provide clinical supervision of PA-Cs and NPs, and any other members of the patient care team. Perform administrative tasks as assigned, such as peer reviews, and Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluations (OPPE). Physician will be required to attend tumor board, attend staff meetings, serve on committees, teams, workgroups, and peer reviews as requested. Participate in quality improvement and assurance programs related to Hematology and Oncology. Protected research time is available for candidates with demonstrated clinical, basic, or translational research expertise commensurate with extramural funding.
