The Program Director for Clinical Variation Reduction has primary responsibility for driving and shaping the clinical variation reduction program, managing the intake process for new clinical variation reduction projects, and achieving financial, quality, and other enabling goals of the clinical variation reduction program. The role will advance the organizations culture around clinical variation reduction. This leader will oversee day-to-day activities, develop structures, and plans for new projects, provide support to Project Owners and supporting staff, and actively engage key stakeholders to advance the clinical variation reduction program.
Based in the Twin Cities Metro area, this position will require residency within proximity of the workplace. As this position offers some ability to telecommute, it is the expectation the following requirements of the remote work policy will be met, including but not limited to:

Leads the planning, implementation, and evaluation of clinical variation reduction initiatives and shapes program strategy across the continuum of care to enact clinical change for more reliable evidence-based care with the Optimal Care Program.
Works across M Health Fairview in phasing its transformation with clinical variation reduction building clinical programs in collaboration with executives, service lines, domains, the clinically integrated network, care management functions, and supporting functions to mature and improve in performance over time.
Develops infrastructure and supports enterprise planning of clinical variation reduction initiatives, projects, and metrics.
Advances the organization's culture around clinical variation reduction and evidence-based care.
Drives performance using a data-driven approach including helping build structures and forums to discuss performance amongst clinical groups in service lines, domains, and departments. Educates clinicians and operational staff on their performance.
Works collaboratively with key supporting partners including data analytics, quality, operations, medical leadership, shared business services, and the enterprise program management office on initiatives.
Uses system methodology for clinical variation reduction initiatives to assure reliable and improved performance in the M Health Fairview organization.
Prepares/assists in the financial forecast and monitors program/project health for monthly variances to plan. Collaborates with and motivates others to adjust plan in order to achieve program/project goals and objective.
Creates a collaborative environment despite ambiguity and uncertainty providing tools and resources to address the needs of teams and workgroups in around initiatives.
Registered Nurse MN (RN), Advanced Practice Provider (NP, PA), or Medical Doctor (MD, DO) or other health-related clinical degree
Minimum 5 years of experience required in relevant field, including health care, quality or process improvement, direct patient care, or healthcare analytics
Minimum 2 years leadership experience
A track record of designing and implementing clinical, operational, quality or other healthcare delivery programs
Expertise in population health, quality, or directly in clinical care knowledge of practices that support health disparities, variations in the population served, and clinical alignment initiatives.
Strong organizational skills. Demonstrated analysis and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently with strong vision and deliverables aligned with strategic goals.
Excellent oral and communications skills.
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain working relationships with peers and stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
Great understanding of organizational dynamics and clinical operations.
Masters degree or higher in Health-related field such as Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or related field or a combination of equivalent education and experience.
Experience with and knowledge of advanced alternative payment models, including Next Generation ACO, Merit-Based Incentive Payment systems (MIPS), MACRA legislation, Minnesota Community Measures (MNCM), Quality Payment Programs (QPP), Primary Care Direct, Bundled Payment programs, Medicare Advantage, and other value-aligned initiatives.
Background or experience in clinical operations and quality.
Formal project management or improvement methodology certification.
Registered Nurse MN (RN), Advanced Practice Provider (NP, PA), or Medical Doctor (MD, DO) or health-related clinical degree with certification and license to practice.
