The RME Coordinator/Quality Manager will have a minimum of a bachelor's degree in nursing or in a related field. Board certification from a VA-approved certifying body preferred. He/she works toward accomplishing objectives and standards in accordance with the VHA, VISN and Medical Center Strategic Plan. The RME Coordinator/Quality Manager is responsible to the SPS Chief and Associate Director, Nursing and Patient Care Services. This is an OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT and will remain open until December 31, 2021. The initial cut-off date for referral of eligible applications will be October 20, 2021, with subsequent cut-off dates every Monday. Eligible applications received after that date will be referred at regular intervals or as additional vacancies occur on an as-needed basis until position(s) are filled. RME Coordinator/Quality Manager is an RN who is a clinical expert in Sterile Processing Services or perioperative nursing and processes used to provide reusable medical equipment throughout the medical center. Responsible for quality management, reprocessing activities pertaining to training, competency assessment, development of standard operating procedures based on equipment manufactures' instructions and aid in succession planning for all areas of RME with an emphasis on SPS. Use in-depth clinical judgment and assumes responsibility for all functions within the RME Program ensuring the clinical and administrative appropriateness of services delivered. Functions as a liaison between clinical programs and non-clinical services which requires the use of exceptional communication skills to assure no chance of misinterpretation of dialogue pertaining to RME (i.e. directives, findings, action plans, changes in manufacturer's instructions, etc.) Ensure to disseminate all information to appropriate personnel. Serves as an educational resource and content expert for RME using only the latest evidence on which to base his/her practice. Collaborates with other personnel and is sure that all staff understands clinical evidence and reasoning regarding changes affecting the RME Programs throughout the Medical Center. Serves as clinical consultative resource for all patient care areas to assure that all reusable medical equipment is properly used according to clinical guidelines and reprocessed properly according to established scientific principles.
