The Chief of the Division of Rehabilitation Services (DRS) is responsible for the effective and efficient management of Audiology & Speech Pathology, Recreation, and Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation programs and services. The incumbent exercises administrative, programmatic and clinical oversight of all programs to ensure the delivery of quality care. The Martinsburg VA Medical Center serves more than 119,000 Veterans across four states; WV, MD, VA, and PA. Located in Martinsburg, WV, the medical center operates seven Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs). All seven clinics are VA-staffed - located in Cumberland, Hagerstown & Fort Detrick, MD, Petersburg & Franklin, WV and Stephens City and Harrisonburg, VA. The medical center also supports the Vet Center in Martinsburg and the Culpeper and Winchester Cemeteries in VA and the Veterans Hotline in Shepherdstown, WV. The Chief of DRS is administratively responsible to the Chief of Staff. Core rehabilitation services typically include: physiatry, chronic pain management, traumatic brain injury/polytrauma, amputation, mobility assessment, physical therapy (PT), occupational therapy (OT), kinesiotherapy (KT), recreation therapy (RT), and speech language pathology (SLP). CLINICAL: The purpose is to rehabilitate patients to their maximum functional potential with the goal of independent living. Rehabilitation treatment has a direct impact on the physical, social, or economic well being of patients. The exact privileges and procedures for a particular provider will be approved by the Professional Standards Board. Administrative: The purpose is the management of DRS. This includes accountability for productivity, clinical treatment area, staffing, material needs, and ensuring performance is in consonance with the Medical Center's mission, goals and objectives, performance measures, and JCAHO rehabilitation standards.
