Job Summary
Accepted Accounting Principles; regulatory or programs requirements and; financial reporting to meet both internal and external needs. Facilitates all required program and grant audits. Responsible for maintaining appropriate documentation and for adherence to related controls and policies. Provides advisory services and presentation material as requested. Accountable for identifying and implementing continuous improvement and automation.
Job Duties
- Maintains general ledger transaction activity at level necessary to facility use of fund reporting.
- Plans, supervises and oversees accounting, financial reporting and analysis of all research and grant programs including monitoring milestone accomplishment to ensure appropriate revenue recognition.
- Coordinates periodic billing to granting agencies.
- Coordinates response to internal and external auditors for research and grant audits including Uniform Guidance audits.
- Collaborates with Research Operations to ensure financial results accurately depict operational performance.
- Performs ad hoc reporting and analysis as necessary to facility award applications, donor reporting, etc.
- Ensures expense account reconciliation and analysis, including variance analysis, to support monthly close processes and other projects as needed.
- Reviews the work of the exempt and non-exempt individuals reporting directly to the position and provides guidance, training, counseling and feedback.
- Prepares and conducts performance appraisals for individuals reporting directly to this position.
- Monitors workflow and workload within the department and works with managers and other finance leaders to redistribute and prioritize work accordingly.
- For certain positions, coordinates interview process, interviews applicants and selects candidates for employment.
- Remains sensitive to issues within the department and works with staff to resolve conflicts.
- Ensures consistent application of policies among staff.

Position Details
- Plans, manages, and oversees the accounting functions of the team members reporting to this position. Manages the financial reporting, and grant accounting for GC Research. Controls and maintains the Lawson General Ledger and Activity Management subsystems
- Assists in the preparation of the indirect cost calculation process.
- Responsible for overseeing sponsored project accounting processes including, but not limited to: monthly time and effort reporting process; timely filing of SF269 Financial Status Reports and SF272 Cash Accountability Reports; monthly federal grant funding requests from the Payment Management System (PMS); and other monthly invoicing as required.
- Maintains current understanding of and ensures compliance with, generally accepted accounting principles, federal grant regulations, and related research/fund accounting practices.
- Ensures the accurate completion of financial information for GHS A-133 audit. Coordinates and reviews the completion of Form 990 schedules for GC Research.

Bachelor's Degree- (Required)
