This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State-accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant: The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. OR The completion of coursework equivalent to a nursing degree in a MSN Bridge Program that qualifies for professional nursing registration constitutes the completion of an approved course of study of professional nursing. Students should submit the certificate of professional nursing to sit for the NCLEX to the VA along with a copy of the MSN transcript. Grade Determinations: The following criteria must be met in determining the grade assignment of candidates, and if appropriate, the level within a grade: Nurse I Level I - An Associate Degree (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing, with no additional nursing practice/experience required. Nurse I Level II - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 1 year of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelor's degree in a related field with no additional nursing practice/experience; OR a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) with no additional nursing practice/experience. Nurse I Level III - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a Bachelor's degree in a related field and approximately 1-2 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a BSN with approximately 1-2 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a Master's degree in nursing (MSN) or related field with a BSN and no additional nursing practice/experience. ["The Toledo CBOC Nurse Manager is assigned to follow established guidelines to supervise nursing staff to safely assess and triage patients to the appropriate level of care and to provide skilled interventions for patient evaluation and treatment. The nurse demonstrates leadership in guiding others in delivering and improving holistic care to the adult and geriatric population through collaborative strategies and in compliance with either the Michigan or Ohio Nurse Practice Acts, in addition to Medical Center and Department standards. The incumbent provides direct supervision of other assigned clinical and/or clerical staff. Executes position responsibilities that demonstrates leadership, experience, and creative approaches to staff who provide complex patient care. The Toledo CBOC Nurse Manager is a proficient nurse, \"with an enormous background of experience, who now has an intuitive grasp of each situation and zeros in on the accurate region of the problem without wasteful consideration of a large range of unfruitful, alternative diagnoses and solutions\" (Benner). The Toledo CBOC Nurse Manager demonstrates performance and leadership that is broad enough to improve the care for patients receiving comprehensive integrated primary care. The Toledo CBOC Nurse Manager is responsible for the documented outcomes at the program or service level. The Toledo CBOC Nurse Manager is accountable to the Associate Chief Nurse for Ambulatory Care. The incumbent is responsible for supervising, organizing, directing, integrating and evaluating patient care delivery at the Toledo CBOC. The Nurse Manager is the first line supervisor for registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, ophthalmology technicians and clerical/administrative staff assigned to the Toledo CBOC. He/she collaborates with the Medical Director for the Toledo CBOC, providers, Mental Health staff, medical and administrative leadership throughout the CBOC and main facility to facilitate optimal safe patient care and flow in the Toledo CBOC. The incumbent is also expected to participate on national and VISN teleconferences related to ambulatory care and CBOC operations and to function as the Point of Contact for implementation of VHA mandates and directives related to outpatient care.
