JOB SUMMARY
The Director of Juvenile Justice Behavioral Health Training Programs (Director) will coordinate and oversee all aspects of the psychology training programs for the Juvenile Temporary Detention Center (JTDC) and the Cook County Juvenile Justice System. This position will be responsible for developing programs, recruiting trainees, providing individual and group supervision, and maintaining relationships with training directors from local universities. The Director will provide clinical services, in addition to ensuring training needs are properly organized, coordinated, monitored and evaluated by the assigned supervising clinicians. The Director responds to all inquiries relative to the program and works to expand the psychology training program to include, Master's Level therapy internship, Art Therapy internship, Social Work internship, and APA approved clinical psychology internship. These additional training programs will service JTDC residents and other justice involved youth.
TYPICAL DUTIES
- Oversees all clinical psychology doctoral level and masters level training programs for the Cook County Juvenile Justice System, including the JTDC.
- Serves as primary contact for local graduate schools.
- Compiles and maintains all records pertaining to externs' and fellows' personnel information, records of program completion, and performance evaluations.
- Regularly updates program information, affiliation agreements, manuals, brochures. and site training policies.
- Maintains working relationships with local graduate schools and schedules meetings as needed.
- Provides clinical services including individual therapy and psychological testing, as needed.
- Provides weekly group supervision, didactics and individual supervision, as needed.
- Assists with the supervision of Psychologists and trainees to resolve issues regarding training needs.
- Participates in the remediation process for trainees when necessary.
- Assists in fellowship recruitment process.
- Supports the recruitment. interviewing, and onboarding of trainees according to (Associate of Chicagoland Externship and Practicum Training (ACEPT) and Associate of Psychology Post Doctoral and Internship Centers (APPIC) standards and procedures.
- Attends and represents training site at annual practice fairs.
- Develops a master's level therapy internship, Art Therapy internship, and Social Work internship.
- Assists with the development of an American Psychological Associate (APA) accredited internship.
- Attends and participates in required meetings and/or committees.
- Performs other duties as requested.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Licensed Clinical Psychologist with a PhD or PsyD in the State of Illinois or ability to obtain two weeks prior to starting employment, required. (If already obtained, must provide license and official transcripts at time of interview)
- Completion of a pre-doctoral internship at a program accredited by the American Psychological Association or listed with the Association of Psychology Post-Doctoral & Internship Centers (APPIC) is required. (Must provide proof at time of interview)
- A minimum of four (4) years of behavioral health services experience is required.
- A minimum of two (2) years of supervising and training of graduate level students is required.
- A minimum of two (2) years of experience working with juvenile populations is required.
- Current experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR), i.e., Epic, Gerner, Centricity or similar systems is required.
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), required. (Testing may be required).
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA), required. (Must provide proof at time of interview)
- Position may require travel for which the employee must have a valid driver's license/insured vehicle or other equivalent means of transportation, required. (Driver's license and vehicle insurance must be presented at time of interview)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Forensic or correctional supervised training and/or work experience is preferred.
- Teaching at the graduate level is preferred.
- Experience in working with public health is preferred.
- Experience in working with diverse populations, preferred.
- Bilingual, preferred.
