In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. OR The completion of coursework equivalent to a nursing degree in a MSN Bridge Program that qualifies for professional nursing registration constitutes the completion of an approved course of study of professional nursing. The surgical service complexity includes Neurosurgery, Orthopedic, Cardio-Thoracic, Ear, Nose & Throat, Plastic Surgery, Urology, Vascular, General Surgery, Gynecological, Oral Surgery, Podiatry, and Renal Transplant. These services utilize complex instrumentation which includes a robust robotic surgical program for multiple surgical services, and a pain management procedural program. The Hines VA Hospital collectively has thirteen (13) Operating Rooms and perform both inpatient and outpatient surgeries. Duties include: Executes leadership that is characterized by substantial and continuous responsibility and accountability for population groups or integrated programs that cross service and/or discipline lines, influence organizational mission and health care. The Nurse IV is responsible for administrative functions of their assigned nursing care/support units/programs. Responsible for management and accountability of all medical equipment directly assigned to SPS on an Equipment Inventory Listing (EIL) for use and distribution throughout the Hospital including all clinics and wards. Designated as the primary point of contact to work with all services from which patient care medical/surgical supply inventory, instruments, and equipment are received, processed, packaged, and distributed. Responsible for the planning, direction and management of all SPS programs for the Edward Hines VA Hospital. Provides in-depth knowledge of SPS management requirements. Oversees management of the central point within the Hospital from which medical/surgical supplies, instruments, case carts, and designated equipment are received, processed, and packaged for distribution to surgical/patient care areas. Provides direct and indirect supervision to employees performing a variety of duties supporting the SPS program at the Hospital. Assesses, plans, and evaluates the processes and daily operations for SPS and patient care programs where critical and semi-critical reusable medical equipment is used and reprocessed. Provides oversight and is responsible for areas outside of the SPS proper that utilizes semi-critical RME to ensure that those areas comply with guidelines/regulations for quality patient care.
