Chief Physician Executive/Chief Clinical Officer
Miami, FL – Jackson Health System (JHS) is seeking a transformative, dynamic and operational physician leader as Chief Physician Executive and Chief Clinical Officer (CPE/CCO) to design and implement a strategy to maximize the effectiveness of operations while delivering high-quality patient care, improving provider and staff engagement, and optimizing financial performance. JHS is one of the nation’s largest public and academic healthcare systems, an integrated delivery network with seven hospitals, as well as a network of clinics, outpatient facilities, physician practices and two long-term care facilities. Jackson Memorial Hospital, the flagship, is the principal teaching hospital for the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, and an outstanding academic medical center committed to delivering cutting-edge treatment and excellent outcomes. Jackson Health System is on a journey to transform health care delivery in all of its hospitals. The CPE/CCO will require contemporary knowledge of large, complex, academic medical centers and a proven record of accomplishment in achieving key operational and strategic initiatives that further improve the quality and efficiency of health care delivery.
This position is responsible for providing strong leadership and administrative oversight to plan, direct, execute and evaluate strategic and operational priorities to provide high-quality medical care to patients at a system with annual volumes of more than 90,000 admissions, 23,000 surgeries, 225,000 adult and pediatric ED visits, and 5,000 trauma visits. The CPE/CCO will be responsible for setting and implementing a culture of excellence in the delivery of clinical services and interaction with colleagues, patients, and families. Working with the leadership team, chairs and chiefs, 1,100 residents and fellows, medical staff, nursing leadership and hospital staff, the CPE/CCO will spearhead clinical initiatives aimed at improving patient services, quality and safety outcomes, physician engagement and accountability, while leading evidence-based programs, practices and activities that deliver quality, service and financial results.
The CPE/COO will be an integral member of the executive leadership team for JHS and chair the Chief Medical Officer Council to develop system-wide standards for Jackson Health System. This position requires an individual who has a passion for providing outstanding care to our community, including the underserved; a desire to improve systems to maximize efficiency and right-size length of stay; and an enduring commitment to providing an environment conducive to maximizing education for the medical students and residents that train at Jackson. The CPE/CCO will be a bridge–builder, uniter, and someone who has superb communication skills as well as high emotional intelligence. The successful candidate will have an intimate knowledge of inpatient and outpatient medicine; knowledge of Cerner or an equivalent EMR; ability to use data analytics to drive physician behavior; and an understanding of the value of building effective relationships with multiple partners and stakeholders in a highly matrixed environment.
This is a unique career opportunity best suited for an individual strongly compelled to participate with an energetic leadership team to transform health care for the people of Miami-Dade County.
