JOB SUMMARY
Government Program Sales is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating government sales efforts and strategy for the health plan of Baylor Scott and White Health (BSWH), which focuses on Medicare, Medicaid, government & private exchanges. Sales efforts may include direct sales (face-to-face or remote), Indirect sales channel sales, business development, marketing, cross-sell/conversion opportunities, and sales support activities for BSWH Health Plan and other BSWH health care services and products. Responsible for the overall sale of new business, new business to existing accounts, and retention for health plan, product, specified geographic area or area of assigned responsibility. Develops and maintains relationships with internal and external sales agencies. Leads new business development efforts and opportunities that lead to sources of new revenue, new markets, and new capabilities for BSWH. Assesses customer needs and suggests appropriate BSWH health plan products, services, and solutions. Develops and delivers sales bids, presentations, and proposals to meet established sales targets in accordance with BSWH overall sales and business objectives.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE
1. Directs, leads, and supports government program internal/external sales and retention activities focused on Medicare, Medicaid, government & private exchanges.
2. Develops, implements, and manages retail and direct government program sales and conversion strategies to drive top line performance by leveraging resources to support the business.
3. Uses data driven insights to translate market and customer needs into clearly defined sales strategy, goals, objectives, and tactics to increase sales & profitability for the business.
4. Partners with critical internal departments and stakeholders including marketing, finance, IT, provider network/relations, product design, and operations to drive and support sales efforts.
5. Creates and maintains strong partnerships with external sales agencies.
6. Identifies product and service lifecycle implications and makes recommendations to maintain market competitiveness and to achieve sustainable financial success.
7. Recommends and introduces web/digital development sales solutions to support the agent experience.
8. Identifies, researches, and remains current on government programs sales and market trends.
9. Develop and implement cross-sell and conversion initiatives.
KEY SUCCESS FACTORS
1. Bachelor's degree in business, or related field required.
2. 3+ years of experience in industry sales required.
3. 1+ years of leadership experience preferred.
4. Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
5. Ability to assess, build, and develop a sales organization.
6. Proven track record in results-oriented sales environment.
7. Expertise in selling, managing, and building relationships with customers
