Job Summary
The Geisinger Heart & Vascular Institute is seeking a nurse practitioner or physician assistant to join our Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgery Department at Geisinger Medical Center located in Danville, Pennsylvania.
Job Duties
The ideal candidate will:
- Manage and assist in the smooth, efficient operations of pediatric cardiac surgical patients from pre-op to post discharge .
- Collaborate with the physician to assess, diagnose, and treat pediatric cardiac surgical patients in the PICU and NICU setting.
- Treatment and management of Adult congenital patients – off shift coverage for these patients is provided by the Adult CTVS AP's
- Answers and returns phone calls from established patients and their families and assess the needs of patient and family in both inpatient and outpatient settings
- If there is interest in surgical experience, a full orientation would be provided to perform all forms of complex heart procedures in the operating room
- This candidate will report the Chief Cardiothoracic Physician Assistant
The successful Physician Assistant candidate will work under the responsibility and supervision of the physician and require completion of an ARC-PA (or predecessor organization) approved physician assistant program, current NCCPA certification or eligibility and Pennsylvania State licensure.
The successful Nurse Practitioner candidate will work in collaboration with the physician and have a certificate of completion from an approved program for Nurse Practitioners or be eligible to hold national certification that allows the NP to work with the patient populations and location settings associated with this position. Must be eligible for licensure as a nurse practitioner in the state of PA.
