Position Summary:
This position is a management position. This position has 24 hour responsibility for strategic, tactical and operational oversight of the various Department (Respiratory Care, Neurodiagnostics, Sleep Disorders Center, and Pulmonary Function Lab) serving Long Beach Medical Center (LBMC) and Miller Children’s Hospital (MCH). Responsible for creating collaborative strategic business plans and execution of 24-hour diagnostic and therapeutic services for LBMC and MCH. Ensures that applicable regulatory standards and policies are met. Services are provided in coordination with other divisions, departments and medical staff to ensure that quality care is provided and to support the goals and objectives of LBMC & MCH. Financial responsibility to control expenses within areas of responsibility. The Director, Respiratory Care Services is responsible for inpatient and outpatient care at LBMC and MCH as well as the provision of clinical care and program development throughout the medical center. Accountable for the business aspects of multiple service lines. Integrates local activities within MHS business plans to include Best Practice Initiatives.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
The Director reports to the Vice President of Ancillary & Support Services. The Director is accountable for planning, developing new services, policy formation, human resource management and organization, financial performance, patient care services operations, staff relations and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements within his/her area of responsibility. In addition, the Director of the assigned area is responsible to provide leadership to redesign the health care delivery structure to position the organization to be a leader in an integrated delivery network.
The Director supervises and manages the department staff and coordinates the day-to-day operations of the department. The Director has expertise in marketing, systems/standards development, IS systems used within their departments, regulatory requirements, and a broad vision of the future of the health care industry.
