LIU Post is one of the most beautiful, historic and scholarly settings in the country. Our 307-acre campus is located on the north shore of Long Island, in the Village of Brookville. The Campus is just 50 minutes from the corporate and arts capital of the world, New York City.
The Department of Visual Art houses the BFA Program in Art and the MA Program in Clinical Art Therapy and Counseling.
POSITION: Full-time, nine-month, non-tenure-track (NTTA) position as Assistant Professor of Clinical Art Therapy and Counseling at LIU Post Department of Visual Art. Appointment is to begin AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful candidate will: Teach a course load of 3 classes in both Spring and Fall semesters. Ensure program effectiveness and CAAHEP program evaluation and review, including outcomes, organization, administration, continuous review, and curriculum planning and development; attention should be given to the number of practicum/internship students in each supervision group assigned to Art Therapy faculty to assure that each student receives sufficient guidance and support to attain mastery of the competencies needed for entry-level clinical proficiency. The successful candidate will also develop criteria and strategies for the vetting and selection of students and will evaluate appropriate clinical and/or experiential settings to provide them with consequential practicum/internship experience. They will also, manage the admissions process, provide academic advising to students, and ensure the achievement of the program's goals and outcomes.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: The Program Director must possess a minimum of a Master degree in Art Therapy, though Ph.D in Art therapy or a related field is preferred. Candidates must hold the ATR-BC credential (Registered and Board-Certified Art Therapist) as well as three years of teaching experience at the undergraduate level.
APPOINTMENT: A non-tenure-track appointment (NTTA) at a rank commensurate with experience and qualifications under the auspices of the LIU Post College of Arts, Communications and Design in the Department of Visual Art.
