The environment on our unit is supportive, with many opportunities for continuous learning and professional growth while caring for patients with varied acuity and diagnoses.
We provide supportive therapies for Adult and Pediatric patients who are being treated for many diagnoses, requiring continuous and intermittent hemodialysis procedures as well as therapeutic apheresis, including therapeutic plasmapheresis, leukapheresis, LDL apheresis, therapeutic red cell exchanges, and platelet depletions. Our patients are unique because of their vast diagnoses and varied treatments.
The acute Dialysis Unit has eight beds and provide bedside treatments in VUAH and VCH. Our patient ratio is 1:1 or 2:1
One of the perks of working on the Dialysis unit is the collaboration within our multi-disciplinary team. Together our team of nurses, providers, management, case managers, and social workers provide each patient the treatment they require.
Our nurses are successful because they have supportive peers who believe in teamwork, continuous learning and applying critical care knowledge during treatments.
We orient new nurses to our unit by providing a progressive orientation that is structured to meet the needs of the learner based on their previous experiences.
