The role you’ll contribute:
The Payroll Tax and Compliance Manager supervises a team of professional Sr. Payroll Accountants and Payroll Accountants in a shared services environment. Responsible for overseeing the federal, state, and local tax reporting activities, regulatory compliance, internal and external metric reporting, strategic planning, process improvement, recognizing and implementing internal controls.
The value you’ll bring to the team:
- Provides overall leadership and support to Finance Shared Services Payroll Sr. Tax Accountants and Payroll Accountants including proactive guidance, troubleshooting support, issue escalation, and development opportunities through timely reviews and feedback.
- Ensures AHS Finance Shared Services is in compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on required actions.
- Oversight for the quarterly and annual balancing of payroll tax filings for all tax jurisdictions including printing and filing of quarterly and annual tax forms and form W-2.
- Oversight for the end-to-end payroll tax reporting and remittance process for multi-state facilities including federal, state, and local.
- Oversight for the timely handling and resolution of tax notices with agencies on behalf of customers including abatement requests, analyzing information and making adjustments as needed.
- Manage audit tasks and controls required for AHS annual audit - including establishing proper controls, ensuring employee adherence to controls and working directly with the auditors during the annual review period.
- Oversight for the identification, tracking, and reporting of internal payroll metrics as compared to external payroll benchmarks to ensure best practice.
- Oversight for the reconciliation of the payroll liability general ledger accounts for all AHS facilities.
- Serves as the subject matter expert (SME) on all systems that drive payroll and payroll tax in order to support internal and external data reporting and/or research requests.
- Responsible for planning proper assignments of personnel and appropriate allocation of resources
- Coordinates and liaises closely with facility business partners, Human Resources, Corporate Payroll and Corporate Tax as appropriate.
QualificationsThe expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent degree from a four-year accredited university or college required.
- Minimum of eight years of multi-state payroll tax experience required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) required
Preferred qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Business Administration or Finance with concentration in Accounting preferred
- Minimum of three years of managerial experience preferred
- Experience in a finance shared services or healthcare organization preferred
