Additional Information About the Role- Memorial Hospital Belleville and Shiloh have an exciting opportunity for a Wellness Program Manager. This new program seeks to address emotional distress, burnout and compassion fatigue in our employee population.
- This position will develop a comprehensive, integrated approach to promoting well-being and responding to the well-being/mental health crisis of our employees.
OverviewMemorial Hospital Belleville is an acute care hospital offering medical and surgical services plus critical and emergency care including Children’s at Memorial for pediatric emergency care. It provides patients a full complement of diagnostic and treatment services as well as heart and vascular care. Memorial, offering medical and surgical services plus critical care, is an accredited Chest Pain Center with PCI by the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care and is designated as an Acute Stroke Ready Hospital by the Illinois Department of Public Health. In addition, Memorial Belleville recently was accredited by the American College of Radiology as a designated Lung Cancer Screening Center. Since 2008, it has been designated as a Magnet®-recognized organization for nursing excellence by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
Memorial Hospital Shiloh, a 94-bed, all-private suite hospital was recognized with Magnet status in 2018 and provides emergency care, labor & delivery, nursery, medical and surgical services plus critical care.
Role Purpose
The Wellness Program Manager organizes and implements comprehensive program and activities that support the mental and physical health of employees. This position promotes wellness and fitness initiatives within the organization and partners with various departments and teams across the BJC system, such as Human Resources, Benefits, wellness, etc., to ensure that programs align to BJC’s overall resiliency and well-being strategy.
Responsibilities
- Creates and leads programming and delivery of all wellness programs in the organization, to include design, plan, and implement all aspects of the program to promote healthy mental and physical lifestyles; coordinate existing programming to ensure delivery of appropriate care and support to the right caregivers at the right time using the right resources.
- Supports leaders in cultivating an impact to overall well-being and resiliency so that patient and team member satisfaction is optimized; provides education sessions to leaders/staff on wellness topics as identified by needs assessment.
- Monitors organizational well-being and impact of programming; conducts debriefing sessions or arranges such per request or by own assessment; conducts listening sessions during periods of high stress or trauma on units or organization.
- Assesses and analyzes the general physical and mental health needs of the employee population; provides trends and information to senior leadership regarding appropriate wellness indicators.
- Collaborates with Human Resources, Benefits and Wellness to identify cost-effective wellness programs and incentives; assists employees with personal concerns and assessments; provides recommendations and referrals for counseling, crisis intervention, and treatment.
- Drafts and maintains accurate, confidential records and reports as required to track and assess employee participation, program incentives, costs, and benefits to the company; drafts reports and proposals for wellness initiatives and action plans (including cost-benefit analyses) for presentation to upper management.
- Manages individual(s) including but not limited to: onboarding and hiring, training, workload management & performance evaluations, conducting professional development plans as needed. Ensures that the productivity and actions of that group meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership.

Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Health Education
- 10+ years of experience
- 2-5 years of supervisory experience
Preferred QualificationsPreferred Requirements
- Master's Degree in Health Education
