Summary
The Trauma Program Manager (TPM) is a professional nurse who has the responsibility to monitor trauma patient care through the trauma performance improvement process throughout the patient hospital stay from pre-hospital, hospital stay through discharge disposition. Assures compliance with Department of State Health Services (DSHS) trauma center standards and audit filters requirements, and/or American College of Surgeons (ACS) respective trauma center standards, as it may apply, under the direct supervision of the Trauma Services System Director and Trauma Medical Director. The TPM provides staff education to providers, nursing, ancillary, and EMS staff as guided by the trauma performance improvement process. The TPM participates in a leadership role in the hospital and regional trauma related committees. Responsible for the Trauma Program Performance Improvement (PI) activities. Collaborates with the trauma registry team to assure trauma patient registry inclusion criteria, accurate injury severity scoring and timely submission to respective entities is met. Partnership with Trauma Medical Director for development and updates trauma related policies and procedures and direct oversight of the program. Note: At least 0.5 FTE of the TPM time is dedicated to TPM related activities such as performance improvement and oversight of the program, the other part of the time is for other trauma related activities such as injury prevention programs, community outreach organization and trauma education partnerships internally and externally.
Qualifications:Job Requirements
Minimum Education
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. College level: Bachelors degree in Nursing. Prefer a MSN.
Required Licenses/Certifications
Current state registration or eligibility to do so. � BLS, ACLS, PALS or ENPC, and TNCC or ATCN within the first 6 months of hire. Remain current through job tenure. � Maintain current membership in a national or regional trauma organization after hire. � For Level 2 and Level 3 Trauma Program Managers: Complete 36 hours of continuing education (CE) in trauma nursing for each survey verification cycle (3 years) after hire.
