Job Summary/Purpose: The Children’s and Women’s Quality/ Safety Manager II reports to the Director of Quality Operations, Charleston Division, and indirectly to the Charleston Chief Quality Officer and the Children’s and Women’s (CHW) Integrated Centers of Clinical Excellence (ICCE) Administrator and ICCE chief.  Under limited supervision, the Quality/Safety Manager II ensures full support is provided to the CHW Quality Assessment Performance Improvement (QAPI)/safety program. This includes collecting relevant quality data, analyzing and assessing data, working with relevant stakeholders on disseminating data and information, benchmarking performance, and leading multidisciplinary teams to improve performance based on goals. This position presents performance to relevant oversight and governance groups.  This position leads and oversees all CHW QAPI and regulatory / accreditation activities, and ensures all direct reports are meeting and exceeding performance expectations. Professional certification in Healthcare Quality or Patient Safety preferred. Under the direction of the System Safety Manager, the CHW Quality/Safety Manager II ensures development of a culture of safety for the organization and mitigation of organizational risks by implementing risk management and patient safety strategies.  This position leverages data from event reports, Culture of Safety surveys, quality collaborative and registries, Patient Safety Rounds and observes assigned clinical work areas to improve safety. This position collaborates with CHW ICCE units and leadership to develop comprehensive unit-based safety programs (CUSPs). CHW is deeply engaged in a variety of national collaborative driving improvement locally and internationally, including Solutions for Patient Safety, Child Health Patient Safety Organization, SC Birth Outcomes Initiative, Children’s Hospital Association, Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative, among many others.

Minimum Training and Education: Bachelor’s degree with 10 years’ experience working in a healthcare organization quality/safety program or equivalent experience or master’s degree with 5 years’ experience working in a healthcare organization quality/safety program or equivalent experience required.  Certification as a professional in patient safety or healthcare quality preferred. Computer/internet skills and familiarity with MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, etc.) essential. Experience with LEAN/ Six Sigma required, certification in Six Sigma preferred. Experience with Just Culture required, certification preferred. Experience with Epic EMR preferred.
