Boston Medical Center seeks an experienced and mission-driven executive to serve as its next Vice President, Surgical Services (VP). This is an outstanding opportunity to join a long-standing institution with a commitment to providing exceptional care for anyone that comes through the doors.
The VP, Surgical Services is a newly elevated role reporting to the SVP, Operations & Professional Services. The VP is responsible for partnering with surgical chairs to develop strategies for, and run clinical operations across, multiple departments: Anesthesiology, Neurosurgery, Ophthalmology, Oral Maxillofacial Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Otolaryngology, Surgery and Urology. In addition, the VP supervises the Senior Director of Procedural Operations in the hospital, who manages operating room capital budgets, recommends block allocation changes and staffs the OR Executive Committee for the hospital.
The incumbent will help lead multidisciplinary strategic projects for the hospital as well as ensure that daily operations achieve quality improvement, fiscal accountability and productivity and patient satisfaction goals and objectives as established by the leadership team. This leader will work to improve utilization and efficiencies through improved scheduling models and collaboration across the continuum of care. Relationship building and physician engagement will be a valuable asset in this highly matrixed organization as the VP works across the system with clinical departments, revenue cycle leaders, medical staff leaders and community and state partners to ensure an integrated approach to providing the highest level of care.
The ideal candidate will have experience leading surgical or procedural service lines, and/or administrative leadership experience in a department of surgery in a complex teaching hospital.
