The University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio (UTHSCSA) seeks a dynamic, experienced physician leader to serve as its Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO) for UT Health San Antonio, the clinical arm of the health sciences center and medical school.
This is an exceptional opportunity to join a growing and financially strong academic medical center. The organization has made significant capital investments over the past several years, expanding in both size and scale to meet the healthcare needs of the communities it serves.
Reporting to the Chief Health Information and Value Officer (CHIVO), this leader will be a key leader in the upcoming Epic Refuel project as well as implementing systems across UTHSCSA's new hospital, set to open in December 2024. Additionally, the CMIO will help to lead key objectives to support the data needs for UTHSCSA's ACO and population health initiatives. The CMIO will help develop a team of physician champions throughout the health system to evangelize the optimization of patient care systems and devise innovative processes to improve the use of the EHR in support of clinical, research, data management and technology innovation.
The ideal candidate will be someone who thrives in change management and help lead large-scale projects in a matrixed leadership environment. The successful candidate will be an experienced informaticist who will be adept at championing the EHR to the clinical community but also capable of contributing more broadly in areas including population health.
Relocation to the San Antonio area is highly preferred. Ongoing practice is highly preferred, although a leader with robust prior practice may be considered.
