Position Information: The Nurse Manager, in collaboration with the Nursing Director, is the vital link between the mission and vision of WakeMed Health & Hospitals and the delivery of safe, quality patient and family-centered care. The Nurse Manager supports compassionate, evidence-based, and the highest quality care. Reporting through the Nursing Director, this role requires collaboration with staff, physicians, directors, and other professional colleagues to meet the complex and continually changing healthcare environment. WakeMed's cardiovascular surgery program has a 3-star rating from the Society of Thoracic Surgeons and includes both ECMO and ERAS programs.
The Nurse Manager is responsible for strategic planning, budgeting, and evaluating performance for a 12-bed CTICU unit. They are accountable for staff recruitment, selection, training, supervision, and evaluation. The incoming candidate plays a vital role in the clinical education of staff to ensure competencies are achieved and maintained. The position requires effective leadership and management skills to facilitate quality care by satisfied and inspired nursing professionals.
This role's ideal candidate has leadership and clinical experience with post-operative open-heart surgery patients, having worked in a CTICU, CSICU, or CVICU. Experience with ECMO is preferred, as is an MSN, but professional experience will be considered in place of an advanced degree.
Experience Requirements: 1 Year Management - Direct Area of Responsibility And 2 Years Clinical - Emergency/Trauma Required
