Nemours Children's Health is seeking a Chief Research Informatics Officer (CRIO) to oversee all aspects of research information technology and data science across the research enterprise, furthering Nemours' broad research mission to improve the health of children. The CRIO reports directly to the Executive Vice President and Enterprise Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) and secondarily to the Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer. The CRIO will also be responsible for developing policies and procedures governing all aspects of research information technology and data science.
Within the research department, the CRIO oversees research programs/labs related to data science and informatics, whose leaders report directly to the CRIO. In this capacity, the CRIO will ensure that the goals and activities of these programs align with the Nemours research department's overall vision and objectives. Additionally, the CRIO participates in departmental leadership decisions, provides mentorship and guidance to junior faculty, and drives efforts to expand research activities by seeking and encouraging junior faculty to seek external grant funding.
Five or more years of research IT management experience in a healthcare, clinical research, or research laboratory setting and have experience using data toward the design of research and clinical decision support and other interventions within systems to influence behavior, research, and clinical decision and drive outcomes.
Successful track record of research productivity and grant funding.
Must be a collaborator, team- and program-builder, able to effectively communicate the vision to all stakeholders, garner buy-in, and lead a successful implementation effort.
MD, PhD or MD/PhD is required.
Develop and apply policies and procedures that meet regulatory and security requirements related to information technology for the research department, including policies related to the acquisition and installation of hardware and software needed for the conduct of research and management of the research enterprise.
Maintain an effective working relationship with the enterprise Chief Information Officer and Chief Security officer to ensure coordination between research department IT policies and those of other clinical and business departments.
Participate in enterprise-wide decision-making bodies regarding information technology governance.
Supervise BRIC (spell out?) Associate Directors who direct growing component programs with responsibilities for Research Information Systems, Biostatistics, Data Science, and Bioinformatics.
Undertake independent and collaborative research, including the development of new data analytic procedures. Design, conduct, and publish original research in peer reviewed journals.
Actively pursue external funding by initiating grant applications as PI and collaborating in submission of grant applications with others.
Serve on designated Nemours Children's Health committees and work groups.
Obtain appropriate academic appointments with the affiliated academic school (University of Delaware or Sidney Kimmel Medical School, Jefferson University, Mayo Medical School, and/or University of Central Florida), and maintain professional development plan.
