JOB SUMMARY
The OR RN Manager is responsible and accountable for coordinating and supervising the nursing care provided to patients having operative or other invasive procedures. Supports the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: Include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
Assists in developing policies, procedures, and staffing essential to the achievement of the philosophy and objectives of the Center. Reviews and revises these in collaboration with the Administrator and Clinical Director, the nursing staff and the professional staff, keeping up to date on current trends in nursing practice and patient care.
Ensures continued compliance with government regulatory agencies, i.e. HIPPA, the facilities accrediting organizational standards, AAAHC, and/or others entities as appropriate. Maintains patient, physician, and employee privacy and confidentiality per policy and HIPPA regulations.
Develops an organizational structure, assigning responsibilities and delegating authority that shall facilitate safe, effective, and efficient care for the patient.
Establishes, maintains, analyzes, and evaluates standards of nursing care within the intra-operative area in compliance with professional nursing standards.
Provides leadership and support in developing and maintaining effective relationships with the center staff and the medical staff.
Operationally and fiscally manage the intra-operative services department. Initiates and/or supports activities to assist in controlling costs.
Assists with environmental hazard and infection control surveillance, and participates in emergency preparedness drills.
Holds individual employees accountable for assigned responsibilities, individual goals, and performance expectations through annual performance evaluations and conferences.
Prepares weekly and monthly nursing schedules for assigned area. Ensures that the appropriate personnel, equipment, and supplies are available.
Delegates administrative responsibilities to another appropriate staff R.N. in his/her absence with notification to the Clinical Director.
Reduces chance of nosocomial infection by directing attention to infection control and environmental safety practices.
Oversees the EDGETM responsibilities of direct reports and maintains own EDGETM
Assists with environmental hazard and infection control surveillance, and participates in emergency preparedness drills.
Clinical resource for intra-operative services staff members using evidence-based knowledge and prevailing standards.
Coordinates, facilitates, and manages change within the intra-operative setting.
Serve as a member of a multidisciplinary team in planning intra-operative patient care.
Use effective conflict resolution techniques to manage and maintain positive working culture.
Collect and analyze data that applies to intra-operative services to facilitate collaboration and negotiation with stakeholders.
Participate in interviews for staff selection.
Pursue professional growth and pursue participation in a professional organization.
Serve as a role model of professional behavior. Follows the Center's professional code of conduct and dress code policy. Assess and manage the political climate within the organization.
Establishes, maintains, and evaluates current practice and quality control studies within the intra-operative area in collaboration with the Clinical Director and the Administrator to improve the services the department provides to others.
Communicates effectively and courteously with visitors, physicians and their office staff, patients, and employees.
Attends mandatory in-services and meetings
Salary Range: $45-$52
Qualifications: Graduate of an approved school of nursing. Currently licensed in the state. CPR required, Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification required. One year experience required intra-operative setting. Demonstrates clinical competency, leadership, and teaching capabilities. Physically and emotionally capable of performing responsibilities of position.
